•  The state’s first green university, Rani Rashmoni Green University, begans its journey today, with Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laying the foundation stone laying at Tarakeswar, Hooghly. Also, Mati Utsav, the annual celebration of the eternal bonding of mother earth with humanity, was inaugurated today by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Foundation stones were laid for 4 new medical colleges at Arambagh, Barasat, Talmuk, Jhargram as well as OPD services at Uluberia and Sreerampore Super Speciality Hospitals, Mother and Child Hub at Contai along with a host of new medical services, new facilities including hostels for working women, Karmanjali, were launched today. Government benefits were distributed to nearly 10,000 beneficiaries on the occasion.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended heartiest greetings to all on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day. On behalf of the Government the International Mother Language Day was observed with due respect at Deshapriya Park. Earlier in the morning, the Hon’ble Chief Minister paid her homage to the martyrs of Ekushe February at the Ekushe Uddyan Bhasha Smarak.

•  Environment-friendly Electric Buses, CNG Buses, Pink Cabs owned and driven by women and renovated 8B bus stand in Jadavpur were launched from Nabanna today, in presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She said that with 80 Electric Buses and 20 CNG Buses being added, West Bengal is the pioneer in introducing environment-friendly transportation in such large scale. She said that the Government has taken decision to enhance subsidy under the Gatidhara scheme for women entrepreneurs for Pink Cabs.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in the inauguration ceremony of the New Town Campus of Presidency University at New Town, Kolkata today. She informed that with five new schools of advanced and futuristic studies - School of Biotechnology, School of Astrophysics, School of Public Policy, School of Informatics and School of Earth Sciences, this was indeed a new milestone in higher education for national and international students and research scholars and a new feather in the crown of Presidency University. She said that she was proud of Presidency University and on this momentous occasion, she conveyed her best wishes to all Presidencians and their family members all over the world. She said that the government will continue to extend all cooperation and support, as it has done for this New Town Campus as well as for the heritage campus at College Street.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the outcome of the Bengal Global Business Summit, 2019 was indeed remarkable. She informed that investment proposals to the tune of Rs 2 Lakh 84 thousand 288 Crore have been received and more were coming. 86 Memorandum of Understanding have been signed with national and international organizations and nearly 45 B2G and 1200 B2B meetings have been held, she said. Hon’ble Chief Minister said that around 8-10 lakh new jobs are likely to be created in the state out of the new collaborations and investment proposals coming up in the Summit. She expressed her deepest gratitude to all the participating countries, their countrymen, national and international delegates, business leaders from all over the country and abroad and all others for making the Bengal Global Business Summit, 2019 such an overwhelming success.

•  The Bengal Global Business Summit, 2019 begun amidst tremendous enthusiasm today at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. More than 35 countries including 12 Partner Countries, captains of industry, Diplomats, Ambassadors, distinguished delegates from the country and abroad graced the inaugural session. The top leaders from all over the world conveyed how the perception about Bengal is changing rapidly towards a more positive curve over the last few years. The presence of national and international delegates is increasing significantly year by year, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said. She informed that three State-to-State MoUs were exchanged between the Government of West Bengal and Italy, Germany and the Republic of Korea in the inaugural session. Many more MoUs and MoAs are in the coming in this Summit in areas of economic cooperation, bilateral trade, business and social sector collaborations, she informed. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that India is now poised for a transformation in socio-economic and political scenario. A new dream is emerging, a dream of a new India and a new policy on industry that will bring more prosperity to all the states of the country and more happiness for the young generation, she said.

•  On the eve of the Bengal Global Business Summit 2019, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had one-to-one interactions with Mr Fabrizio Sala, Vice President, Lombardy Regional Government, Italy, HE Mr Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan in India and Dr Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy, State of North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. She said that the discussions were very positive and many collaborative ideas emerged out of it. She also met captains of industry and delegates, both from India and abroad, on the eve of the summit.

•  The Joint Investiture ceremony of the West Bengal Police and the Kolkata Police was held at the ground adjoining the Police Outpost near Metro Channel, Dharmatala, Kolkata. Outstanding police officers of the state were decorated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the day for their gallantry and service. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also addressed to the gathered participants of the Krishak Samabesh, held at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
