•  Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the inauguration of India's first day and night Pinkball Test Match at Eden Gardens. Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and all visiting dignitaries from Bangladesh were present on the special occasion. All were overwhelmed to have the former captains of India and stars of the sports world like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammed Azaruddin, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Kris Srikkanth, Sania Mirza, P V Sindhu, Mary Kom, Jhulan Goswami and other sports personalities and dignitaries present. Hon'ble Chief Minister thanked Kolkata’s own Sourav Ganguly for everything. She greeted both the teams India and Bangladesh and congratulated BCCI & CAB for hosting the spectacular event in Kolkata.

•  Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended two administrative review meetings at Murshidabad and Berhampore. She inaugurated several projects, laid foundation stones and distributed various services to the people. She also spoke to the five bereaved families, who lost their loved ones in Jammu and Kasmir. The State Government has reassured them constant help and all possible support.

•  Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tribute on the Birth Anniversary of Salil Chowdhury, the famous music director and songwriter.

•  Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took part in two administrative review meetings, first in Dakshin Dijnajpur and the second in Malda district. She said that those review meetings with various officials from the Block, Sub-division, District and right up to the State Secretariat, help in monitoring government programmes significantly and improve work at the ground level. As a result, government schemes are implemented on time and desired benefits reach the people in a timely manner, she narrated. The State Government handed over cheques of Rs.50,000 as promised to each of the persons brought back from Jammu and Kashmir, at the administrative meeting at Gangarampur Stadium, Dakshin Dinajpur. They have also been brought under various beneficiary schemes of the State Government , that would give them a fresh start.

•  In the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, a colorful cultural event concluded with the 25th International Kolkata Film Festival at the Nazrul Mancha. The event began on November 7 at Netaji Indoor Stadium. The Hon'ble Chief Minister presented the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger Award and Hiralal Sen Memorial Award to the winning filmmakers. Shabana Azmi was the chief guest on the occasion. Besides, prominent persons of Bengali cinema were also present as guests of honour. Representatives from the country and abroad attended the festival as special guests. The Hon'ble Chief Minister expressed her sincere thanks to all who made the event a success.

She spent some time with young students in songs, poems and stories at Nabanna. They were happy to receive gifts from the Hon'ble Chief Minister.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a review meeting at Basirhat in the North 24 Parganas affected by the cyclone Bulbul. She visited the Basirhat sub-divisional blocks including Sandeshkhali, Hingalganj, Hasnabad and other districts affected by the storm and held a review meeting with the district administration officials about the relief of the people in the district and to provide relief to the common people.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that, the State administration was closely monitoring the situation 24x7, taking all measures to tackle any contingency. She told not to panic, remain calm and cooperate with the administration in its rescue and relief efforts.

•  The introductory programme of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) was celebrated in a glittering ceremony at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival, that came alive with the presence of star actors and directors from India and other countries. She said that cinema has to be made more far-reaching in its influence as it is for everybody around the world. State Government made all arrangements to make this a spectacular festival. Shah Rukh Khan, the brand ambassador of West Bengal and Bengal’s very own Sourav Ganguly were present on the auspicious occasion. The packed stadium witnessed tremendous excitement as the distinguished guests Rakhee Gulzar, Mahesh Bhatt and the guests of honour Volker Schlöndorff and Andie MacDowell took the stage and mesmerised everyone with their wonderful speeches. The next eight days, 366 films will be shown at 17 different venues in the ‘City of Joy’. The Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed her gratitude to all the distinguished guests, invitees, national and international delegates present in the celebration of cinema. Their contribution to the world of cinema was exceptional, she said. She extended her heartiest greetings to everyone and invited all to participate and enjoy the film festival.

•  Joint Entrance Examinations, so long were conducted in English and hindi languages. Surprisingly, now only Gujarati language has been added. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that, injustice was being meted out to the other regional languages including Bengali. Today, stressing on the need for setting questions in regional languages in the Joint Entrance Examination, she said that there would be strong protests all around as sentiments of people speaking other regional languages would be deeply hurt due to this injustice.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today met college and university teachers at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. During her speech, she spoke about the various measures the State Government has taken for the betterment of teachers.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that, the State Government had brought back 133 persons who were working as labourers in Jammu & Kashmir, as they had been suffering from insecurity to their lives. It has also been decided to provide Rs.50,000 to each of these persons, so that they can start their fresh livelihood here again. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that they would receive the financial assistance very shortly. Besides, they would also be brought under the beneficiaries' schemes of the Government, like Khadya Sathi, Banglar Awas Yojana, etc, for which they were entitled, she added. Necessary instructions in this regard are being issued separately.
