•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off the ‘Sabuj Sathi’ scheme for Bankura district at Khatra. She also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a bouquet of projects and schemes today. The Hon’ble Chief Minister is currently visiting districts of the Jangalmahal and had visited Jhargram and Gopiballavpur earlier this week. She also distributed several benefits to the people of the district.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off a unique scheme “Sabuj Sathi” from Jangalmahal for the students in the state. Both boys and girls, studying in classes X, XI and XII will get cycles for commuting to schools under this scheme. A target of distributing 40 lakh cycles has been take, the Hon’ble Chief Minister informed. The Hon’ble Chief Minister, currently on a visit to Jangalmahal, also inaugurated a project of Neem plantation from Gopiballavpur in West Midnapore district. She held a review meeting for the developmental works in the district and later during a public meeting at Chhatinashol, at 2 PM, she inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a bouquet of projects.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that Bengal Birbhum Coalfields Ltd (BBCL), a new company will develop India’s largest coal mine in Deocha-Pachami, Birbhum, which is estimated to have more than 2 billion tonnes of coal. The mine will supply coal to the power plants in Bengal and other states. Lakhs and lakhs of employment will be created and socio-economic infrastructure of the region will change radically, giving a huge boost to the economy and large benefits to the people, the Hon’ble Chief Minister informed.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that a joint venture between Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises & Textiles and Howrah Municipal Corporation in a 200 acre MSME Industrial City, named as “Belur Shilpa Tirtha” is being developed in Belur, Howrah. The industrial city will have state of the art industrial park for all kinds of manufacturing activities and a world class Logistics Hub with requisite social infrastructure for housing, education, healthcare and recreation/entertainment, she said. She also informed that more than 50,000 Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises have been set up in the State in the last 4 years with employment of about 4.5 lakh people.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to Hon’ble Prime Minister about the Union Government not complying with the request for financial assistance for the flood-hit districts of the state. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that the State Government has not received any intimation about any financial assistance despite a central team having surveyed the flood-affected areas two months ago. In fact, soon after the floods, the Hon’ble Chief Minister had met the Hon’ble Prime Minister in Delhi and apprised him of the flood situation in the State along with the extent of damage.

A letter in this regard has been sent by the Chief Minister to the Union Minister of Minority Affairs.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated Kolkata’s longest flyover, 4.3 Km long, connecting EM Bypass with Park Circus and dedicated it to all the citizens. On the day, she also launched “Sundarini” project for Sunderbans to focus tourism, health, hygiene, sanitation, livelihood and the local produce of the area.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Paro in Bhutan on a five-day tour to neighbouring country from morning. The Royal Government of Bhutan had earlier invited her to visit the country. Hon’ble Ministers of Bhutan Government welcomed Hon’ble Chief Minister at Paro airport.

•  On the first day of her visit to Bhutan, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Parliament House of Bhutan at Thimphu and held a meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the country. After the meeting, a joint press conference was addressed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan and the Hon’ble Chief Minister. At the press conference, the Hon’ble Chief Minister said that she was honoured that His Excellency King of Bhutan had invited her to visit the country. The Hon’ble Chief Minister informed that at the meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister various areas of Bhutan-Bengal collaboration and other important issues were discussed at length. She also informed that she had invited the Hon’ble Prime Minister to the Bengal Global Business Summit to be held in Kolkata during 8th and 9th January, 2016.

•  In the evening of her first day to the visit to Bhutan, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the India-Bhutan Business Conclave at Thimphu in Bhutan. Present at the Conclave were the Hon’ble Minister of Economic Affairs, the Ambassador of India in Bhutan and the Bhutan Government among many other dignitaries. She said that Bengal will partner with Bhutan and will do business with the country. This will pave way for greater economic co-operation and more business opportunities between Bengal and Bhutan in the coming days, the Hon’ble Chief Minister informed.
