•  New names of city streets and bridges were finalized by the road renaming committee of the KMC. Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the new names at Town Hall. New Park Street is changed to Ustad Hafeez Ali Khan Sarani, Broad Street is changed to Bade Ali Khan Sarani, Bardhaman Road to Pundit Rabishankar sarani, Chitpur Bridge-Kashipur Streeet is changed to Sri Sri Ramkrishna Paramhangsa Sarani, Creek Raw to Sir Nilratan Sarkar Sarani, Kalakar Street is changed to Ram Manohar Lohia, Deshapriya Park to Shyamal Mitra Sarani, Belvedere Road is changed to Ramaprasad Goenka Sarani, Rajdanga Sarani to Salil Chawdhury Sarani, Baburam Ghosh Road-Karunamoyee Bridge is changed to Mahanayak Uttam kumar Sarani, Chandalpara Road to Tarapada Santra Sarani, Southern Avenue-Lake Gardens Bridge is changed to Debaki Kumar Basu Sarani, Usha Bridge-Raynagar Madhyapara is changed to Shibdas Banerjee Sarani, Lake Terrace to Debabrata Biswas Sarani, Kanungo Park is changed to Ashapurna Devi Sarani. Two Bridge - Dhakuria Bridge is changed to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Bridge and Jeerat Bridge is changed to Ma Saradamoni Bridge.

•  A meeting was convened by Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Town Hall to review the works done by the Government in the past two years. All ministers and top Government officials were also present in the meeting.

•   It was announced by the State Govt. that a special session of West Bengal Legislative Assembly on April 29 and April 30 to discuss the new bill, Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishment Bill 2013 is to be held. Hon'ble Chief Minister discussed the points of the draft of the Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishment Bill 2013 , regarding chit fund laws with the Hon'ble Governor, West Bengal.

•   Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Health officials at Swasthya Bhavan and asked officials to take strict measures to control Dengue in the state. Firhad Hakim-Urban Minister, Chandrima Bhattacharya-Minister of State, Health Department, Sovan Chattapadhyay-Mayor of Kolkata, Atin Ghosh-Mayor in Council, District Megistrate of Howrah and Chairperson of Bidhannagar MC-Krishna Chakraborty were also present in this meeting.

•  A meeting was convened by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with the Chairman of Planning Commission in New Delhi. The Planning Commission approved West Bengal's annual Plan of Rs 30,314 for the current fiscal, which is 17 per cent higher than the outlay for 2012-13, meeting the state's expectations. The Rs 30,314-crore Plan size includes additional central assistance of Rs 6,645 crore. The Commission had approved a Plan size of Rs 25,910 crore for the previous fiscal.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that she will meet the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister during her tour to New Delhi and insist them to lift the 'economic blockade' against West Bengal. She will stay in New Delhi from Monday to attend Planning Commission meeting. Before leaving Writers' Buildings, Hon’ble Chief Minister told that she would meet the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister to urge them not to deprive the state economically. She also said that the Centre had stopped financial assistance to her government for providing rice and wheat at Rs 2 per kilogram to the poor people in Jangalmahal. She said that she would ask the reason for stopping the grants.

•  'Bangla Sangeet Mela 2013' was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Eminent music personalities were felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. This year 'Bisesh Sangeet Mahasamman' award to Manna Dey was personally handed over by the Hon’ble Chief Minister at his residence at Bangalore on 4th April, 2013. 'Sangeet Mahasamman' awards were conferred upon 16 distinguished artists - Nirmala Mishra, Sabita Chowdhury, Purnadas Baul, Arati Mukhopadhyay, Banashree Sengupta, Anup Ghosal, Haimanti Shukla, Usha Uthup, Arundhati Hom Chowdhury, Ustad Sabir Khan, Nachiketa Chakraborty, Ustad Rashid Khan, Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, Srikanta Acharya, Indranil Sen and Runa Laila from Bangladesh. 'Sangeet Samman' awards were conferred upon 18 eminent artists - Purba Dam, Pratul Mukhopadhyay, Ruma Guha Thakurta, Promita Mullick, Kartick Das Baul, Indrani Sen, Sriradha Bandyopadhyay, Tanmoy Bose, Bikram Ghosh, Pabandas Baul, Raghab Chattopadhyay, Lopamudra Mitra, Monomoy Bhattacharya, Pritam Chakraborty, Jeet Ganguly, Soumitra Roy (Bhumi), Anindya Chattopadhyay (Chandrabindu) and Rejwana Chowdhury (Banya) from Bangladesh. 'Maha Sangeet Samman' awards were conferred upon 5 renowned artists - Dwijen Mukherjee, Sandhya Mukherjee, Girija Devi, Ajay Chakraborty and Firoza Begum from Bangladesh.
