•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lodged protest against the decision of the Central Government that the prices of subsidised cooking gas cylinders will be increased by Rs 4 every month and all subsidies will be eliminated by March 2018. She stated that she was really concerned about the commoner and said that earlier, subsidy was withdrawn on LPG and now this has happened again. She questioned the Centre about social obligation not being carried as well as commitment to society at large.

•  Today, all over the state, lakhs of ‘Kanyashrees’ had assembled to celebrate winning of the prestigious United Nations Public Services first place award in June this year by “Kanyashree Prakalpa" of Bengal. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in the state-level programme at Netaji Indoor Stadium. Successful Kanyashree girls were felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. She announced the launch K3 programme for university students through which the Government will give monthly stipend of Rs 2500 to girl students who score 45% marks. It was a brilliantly colourful programme with thousands of young girls turning up with lots of enthusiasm and also attended by a galaxy of stars and distinguished personalities from all walks of life.

•  Many districts of West Bengal are in a state of flood-like situation due to rain and release of water from the dams and barrages of the neigbouring state. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited Amta, Khanakul and Joypur to monitor the flood situation in these areas. She spoke to the local people. She said that every year farmers suffer crop losses due to floods. Houses are destroyed, cattle and animals die and the loss of property is huge.She also said that the Damodar Valley Corporation had been requested to release water in lesser quantities so that the adverse effects in the State are minimized. She pointed out that had dredging been carried out, more than 2 lakh cusecs of water could have been held in the reservoirs and there would not have been flood-like situation in West Bengal.

•  “Mahanayak Samman, 2017”, instituted by the West Bengal Government in honour of the legendary Mahanayak Uttam Kumar, was conferred today by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on eminent cine personalities for outstanding contribution in the world of cinema. Lifetime Achievement award was conferred on the distinguished actress, Shakuntala Barua. Awards were also presented to Prosenjit Chatterjee, Nusrat Jahan, Arindam Sil, Bickram Ghosh, Soumik Halder and Padmanabha Dasgupta. Suparnokanti Karati for the film "Bisarjan" and Shiboprasad Mukhopadhyay for the film "Praktan" film were also among the awardees for Best Film and Best Producer categories. A beautiful cultural program by eminent artistes was presented in Nazrul Mancha on the occasion. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that Bengal’s cinema has a great place of distinction in the country and the world.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left for Delhi today. She will be attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new President of India the next day.

•  On the second day of her visit to Purba Medinipur district, Bengal Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a public meeting in Digha. She inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a bouquet of developmental projects for the district.The Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurate projects like a teachers’ training school, government buildings, hostels, irrigation projects, cold storages, road projects, among many others. She laid the foundation stones for projects like the Digha Convention Centre, new road projects, desilting of canals, a tourist lodge and others. The Chief Minister then distribute benefits of schemes like Kanyashree, Sikshashree, Sabuj Sathi, Geetanjali and SVSKP, and fishing equipment, farming equipment and other such benefits.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during a three-day visit to the districts, today inaugurated a number of developmental projects for Purba Medinipur district in Nandakumar today. She inaugurated road projects, a youth hostel, a bus depot, a new jetty, a renovated heritage park in Haldia, as well as flagged off a night-time bus service on the Mecheda-Haldia route. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for a bouquet of projects in the district and distributed various benefits.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjeetoday urged the captains of the IT industry to support with the state government in order to ensure that Bengal becomes number 1 in the country in IT and ITeS sectors. She was addressing a gathering organised by the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) at Kolkata. She said there is no dearth of talent in the state and if proper opportunity was provided to them, Bengal can become the best in IT in the country.

•  Addressing a press meet in Nabanna, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that the cabinet has taken an administrative decision to create 'Shanti Vahini' in the state by including area police and students and youth from each locality. She said the teams would get administrative backing and work in tandem with the police to maintain peace in their localities. They will monitor if anyone is conspiring to spread tension or start a riot in their area. The teams will also check if these people are misleading locals by spreading rumors about robbery or riot in order to polarise them for their own benefits. She informed that the situation was "normal" in North 24-Parganas district's Basirhat sub-division.

•  Condemning the incident of communal tension in North 24 Parganas, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today addressed a press meet in Nabanna. She appealed to the people of the area not to create communal tension. She said that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness. She informed that the police have already arrested the person who had started the incidence of communal tension through a post on the social networking site.
