• Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the 22nd Jatra Utsav at Barasat Kachari Maidan in North 24 Parganas. Department of Information & Culture, Govt of West Bengal and Paschimbanga Jatra Akademi are jointly organising the festival. The 32-day festival will be held at multiple venues. Hon’ble Chief Minister said. Jatra is immensely popular even today among people and has a huge mass connection. Every year, this festival is held with lots of enthusiasm and participation of people across all sectors, she said. Outstanding contributions in the world of jatra were conferred with the prestigious ‘Shantigopal-Tapankumar’ award instituted by the present Government.
• Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today was present in a government public distribution programme for North 24 Parganas district, at the Kachari Maidan in Barasat. On the occasion, many important new projects of North 24 Parganas were flagged off and government benefits were handed over to a large number of beneficiaries. Earlier in the day, the Hon’ble Chief Minister took an Administrative Review Meeting of the district in the presence of officials from Block level to the state secretariat to monitor progress of development schemes and timely delivery of services to people.

• The State-level programme of the February 21 International Mother Language Day was celebrated in a befitting manner today at Gangarampur in Dakshin Dinajpur. The Hon’ble Chief Minister was present today at Government public distribution programme, from where numerous government schemes were flagged off to boost up development in the district. Government benefits were distributed to nearly 10,000 beneficiaries today. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also announced the decision to set up a new university in the South Dinajpur district. • Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her visit to Jangalmahal today attended a Government public distribution programme at Belpahari in the newly-formed district of Jhargram. Hundreds of new government schemes were launched and government benefits were distributed to thousands of beneficiaries. She said that eight years ago, on this date, 24 EFR jawans laid down their lives fighting a brutal attack by Maoists on the EFR camp at Silda. Today, the Hon’ble Chief Minister personally visited the camp to pay her tribute to the brave jawans.

• Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her visit to the Nadia district today, visited the ISKCON temple at Mayapur. She informed that the ISKCON is setting up a world tourism circuit centre at Mayapur and have sought the assistance of the Government. She said that the Government will be very happy to help them. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that this initiative will definitely be a new landmark in the religious tourism destination not only in the state and the country, but also in the whole world. On her way to Krishnagar, the Hon’ble Chief Minister also visited Sri Chaitanya Math and Chand Kazi Mazar.
• Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee chaired the Administrative Review Meeting for Nadia district at Krishnagar. She said that these review meetings with officials from Block, Sub-division, District, right up to the State Secretariat, help significantly in monitoring government programmes and stock-taking at the ground level. As a result, government schemes are implemented on time and desired benefits reach the people in a timely manner, she said.

• Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in a meeting with the political parties of the Hills, at the Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling. She appealed to all political parties to bury their differences and unite for restoration of peace and work for all round development of Darjeeling Hills. She said since the Hills possess huge potential for software and IT hub, besides horticulture, agriculture, home stay, tourism and hotel industry, the Government would hold an industrial meet in March this year.

• During her visit to North Bengal, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present today in the prize distribution ceremony of Himal-Tarai Dooars Sports Festival, 2018, organised by the West Bengal Government in the Mal, Darjeeling. Around 18,500 participants and 805 clubs of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Kalimpong districts took part in archery, martial arts, football and volleyball tournaments under the sports festival. The Hon’ble Chief minister stated that she loves Darjeeling and wants peace, happiness and prosperity to flourish in the hills. She stated that the Government is committed to keep the hill brothers and sisters smiling always. She urged all to carry on development works with greater thrust. Today, the Hon’ble Chief Minister announced the Government’s decision of setting up of a new university in the hills for enhancement of higher education opportunities of the youth of the area.
