•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a bouquet of projects in Alipurduar district. The projects that were inaugurated include OPD of Falakata multi super specialty hospital, SNCU at Birpara State General Hospital, a gateway at Jaigaon, Karma Tirthas, schools, roads, bridges, home stay, healthcare facilities. She also laid the foundation of power sub-stations, administrative buildings, fire service stations, bus terminus at Jaigaon, schools, roads, eco-tourism projects among others. She distributed benefits of various government schemes like Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sabuj Sathi, Sabuj Shree, agricultural equipment and others.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 1100 crore today at Chakchaka in Cooch Behar. The Hon’ble Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for Cooch Behar Medical College and Hospital today. She distributed the benefits of various schemes such as Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sabuj Shree, Siksha Shree, scholarship, agricultural equipment among others.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated “Uttirna”, a unique, multi-facility open air theatre in the “Dhana Dhanya” complex near Alipur in Kolkata. With almost 2000 seats, 5-storeyed “Uttirna” has modern stage, greenroom, banquet hall, food court, media centre, conference room, cafeteria etc. and is poised to be an excellent facility for cultural events, performing arts, seminars and conferences in Bengal. On the day, the State Government also celebrated today Civil Services Day, 2017 in a befitting manner in "Uttirna". This was the first time that a celebration of this sort was being made in the state. The Hon’ble Chief Minister dedicated "Uttirna" to the Civil Services fraternity of the state as a glorious tribute to their significant contribution to Bengal and her people. On this occasion, she also extended greetings and best wishes to all members of Civil Services of the state, country and the world and their family members.

•  West Bengal Government had started e-governance actively in 2012 for introducing transparency and efficiency in government services. It is the first State in the country to use the e-kuber of RBI. The State has received the Golden Peacock in 2016 for e-services in taxation. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that in continuance of such initiatives, Bengal is introducing an online e- Pension system for primary and secondary teachers and non-teaching staff, which will benefit nearly 4 lakh employees in the education sector. Now, it takes around 2-3 years to receive a Pension Payment Order due to the manual nature of verification by different authorities. With the new e-Pension Portal, the whole process will be online and paperless, bringing total transparency and cutting down on time. Gratuity will be paid immediately on the date of retirement and pension will be released in the bank account on due date i.e. immediately after completion of first month after retirement, she informed.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the fourth unit of the Sagardighi Thermal Power project among others from a public meeting at Domkal, Murshidabad, today at 3 PM. The Hon’ble Chief Minister today inaugurated numerous developmental projects including a SNCU, primary health centres, an ITI, road projects, girls’ hostels, drinking water projects, a Karma Tirtha and a Patha Sathi. She also laid foundation stones for projects including the fifth unit of the Sagar Dighi Thermal Power project, Karmatirthas, road projects, primary health centres, school buildings among others. She also distributed cycles under Sabuj Sathi and other benefits like Kanyashree, Sikshashree, Yubashree, Sabushree, Sasthya Sathi, agricultural machinery, Gatidhara and other such projects.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that for the fifth time in a row, West Bengal has again received the prestigious “Krishi Karman Award” of the Government of India for excellence in agriculture. In spite of the devastating floods of 2015-16, West Bengal has achieved spectacular growth in pulses production while sustaining overall growth in food production.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday met Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking release of funds due to the state under various centrally sponsored schemes. In nearly half an hour meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, who has long been seeking debt moratorium for the state, discussed West Bengal’s debt situation with the PM. She informed that around Rs 10,459 crore is pending with the Centre, and she had apprised the Hon’ble Prime Minister about that and the problems arising out of that. She informed that she had requested him to ensure that the funds are released.

•  The Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus service and the Kolkata-Khulna and Radhikapur-Birol rail link was flagged off from New Delhi. Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were present on the historic occasion. The Hon’ble Chief Minister stated that the event marks a new milestone in India-Bangladesh relations and ties and extended her greetings to all her brothers and sisters and wished them “Subho Nabobarsho” in advance. Later in the evening, the Hon’ble Chief Minister had a meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh during a dinner at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

•  On the fourth day of her visit to the districts, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared Paschim Bardhaman as a district at a public meeting in Asansol. The new district Paschim Bardhaman comprising Asansol and Durgapur regions has been created for focussed development in the area. The Hon’ble Chief Minister felicitated eminent personalities with outstanding contributions in different fields on the occasion. She also felicitated senior journalists including members of Press Accreditation Committee in the programme. She also inaugurated the 34 developmental projects including the Misti Hub in Bardhaman and laid foundation stones for several other developmental projects.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today left for Delhi. She will be meeting the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh and attend a dinner hosted by the Hon’ble President of India, during her visit.

•  On the fourth day of her district visit, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared Manbazar and Jhalda as the new sub-divisions of Purulia district. She also inaugurated a slew of developmental projects at Belkuri Hat Maidan in Purulia. She laid the foundation stone for a medical college and hospital at Purulia. To boost the health infrastructure in Jangalmahal, she also inaugurated a 20-bedded SNCU at Raghunathpur Sub-Divisional Hospital in Purulia. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also distributed the benefits of various government schemes like Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sikshashree, Sabuj Shree, Sabuj Sathi among others. Eminent persons and journalists were felicitated by the Chief Minister on the occasion. She informed that the Government has taken decision to set up a Cultural Academy for the Mahato community with headquarters at Purulia that will look after preservation and promotion of the language, culture, traditions and heritage of the community.

•  On the third day of her visit to the districts, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today chaired the administrative review meeting for the Bankura district and later addressed a public meeting at Shunukpahari ground in Bankura where she inaugurated numerous developmental projects from today’s meeting, including road projects, bridges, check dams, hostel buildings, a handloom development project and several government buildings. She also laid foundation stones for a bouquet of developmental projects including ITIs, bus terminuses, road projects, eco-tourism projects, agriculture projects and several government buildings. Benefits like Kanyashree, Sabujshree, Sabuj Sathi, Sikhshashree, different trade machineries, loans and aids will also be distributed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister from today’s meeting.

•  Jhargram emerged as the newest district of Bengal. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared Jhargram the 22nd district of the State today from a public meeting held at Jhargram Raj College ground. Earlier, Jhargram which was an area dominated Left-Wing extremists, has been a model of peace and development since 2011. Schools, colleges, hospitals, roads, bridges, drinking water, housing, electricity, water conservation, food security, jobs, skill development, culture, language – Jhargram has witnessed unprecedented holistic development work by the present government, touching almost all aspects of life.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a number of Helipads from Dumurjola, Howrah which include, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Jaigaon, Chalsha, Balurghat, Malda, Behrampore, Krishnanagar, Santiniketan, Bankura, Charrah, Jhargram, Medinipur, Digha, Haldia, Arambagh, Chinsurah, Basirhat, Bongaon, Canning, Sagar, Dumurjola, Behala. Work is in progress for two more helipads at Falakata and Mukutmanipur.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, from a public meeting at Kharagpur College Maidan today announced the historic decision by the Government that Khajna/tax on agricultural land will now be fully exempted in the State for all farmers. She informed that demonetization has affected the farming community and this step will be of great help to all the farmers and bring huge relief to the agriculture sector in the state. She said that the farming community in the country is under great distress and there are reports of farmers committing suicide in several states. She therefore, urged the Central Government to take steps to waive farmer loans and help them to overcome this crisis situation. The Hon’ble Chief Minister today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a bouquet of developmental projects for the Paschim Medinipur district from a public meeting. The projects inaugurated today by the Chief Minister include a Krishak Bazar, a market complex, water supply projects, a flood rehabilitation centre, road projects, government buildings, godowns among others. She also laid the foundation stone of a super specialty hospital at Belda. Among the other projects to be flagged off today by the Bengal CM are power sub stations, road projects, government buildings, irrigation projects, forestry projects and many others. She also distributed benefits like Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sikhshashree, cycles under Sabuj Sathi amd Prani Mitra, Geetanjali, artisans’ credit cards, tractors and agricultural machineries and many other such benefits. She also chaired the administrative review meeting for the district at Kharagpur.
