•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present today in a government public distribution programme covering Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts in Tiabon Ground, Jalpaiguri. A large number of new government schemes across various sectors were flagged off and government benefits were handed over to the beneficiaries on the occasion. She expressed that through repeated visits to North Bengal districts, the Government has been able to achieve significant development in the region and are fully committed to carry it further forward in the days ahead. Later, the Hon’ble Chief Minister took an Administrative Review Meeting with officials of Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts to take stock of progress of development work and reaching benefits to people in a timely manner.

•  During her visit to North Bengal, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today was present in a government public distribution programme at Rasmela Ground in Cooch Behar town. A bouquet of new projects in the district were launched, which would significantly boost further health, electricity, infrastructure, connectivity, skill development, employment generation sectors and overall development of the district. Government benefits were also handed over to a large number of beneficiaries on the occasion.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Cooch Behar in North Bengal for her district visit. In continuance of the regular exercise of meeting district officials, right from the block level, in presence of the entire secretariat team, she took stock of development works in Coochbehar in an Administrative Review Meeting. On the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister also inaugurated the new auditorium “Utsab” in Coochbehar made by the State Government.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the new State Guest House, ‘Soujanya’ at Alipore, Kolkata. She had laid the foundation stone and christened the Guest House as ‘Soujanya’ in 2015. The guest house, which levels international standards, has facilities like conference rooms and special courtyards and is designed to stage meetings with foreign delegations. From the venue, the Hon’ble Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of an arsenic-free potable drinking water project for the people of Haroa, Rajarhat and Bhangar II Block in North 24-Parganas.

•  The annual Durga Puja Carnival was held today at Red Road, Kolkata for the third successive time. Since 2016, this annual carnival is being organised by the State Government. Nearly 75 puja committees participated in today’s carnival. Guests from foreign countries and common people witnessed the procession along with Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

•   ‘Bhorer Alo’, the mega tourism complex in Gajaldoba, Jalpaiguri was inaugurated today by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during her visit to North Bengal. Spread over nearly 210 acres, this integrated tourism complex is among the largest of its kind in the country. The Hon’ble Chief Minister christened the project as ‘Bhorer Alo’. Located on the foothills of the Himalayas with a huge waterbody, forest and magnificent landscapes, this new destination is a paradise for nature lovers, bird watchers, leisure seekers, forest trekkers and tourists of all sorts. From the inauguration programme, the Hon’ble Chief Minister invited all to come and see ‘Bhorer Alo’.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in the birth anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Bhawan, Beliaghata today. Foundation stones of a new university in the name of Mahatma Gandhi at Purba Medinipur and renovation of Gandhi Bhawan and setting up of Gandhi Museum were laid on the occasion.She informed that Gandhi Bhawan, which was earlier known as ‘Hyderi Manzil’ and where Gandhiji had staged a fast unto death during August-September, 1947 in protest against communal violence, would be acquired by the State government and fully renovated and a new museum would be set up there in honour of Gandhiji. On the first Independence Day, Gandhiji was here in this building in Calcutta, she informed. From today’s occasion, Calcutta University published Gandhiji’s book ‘My Autobiography’ in Santali script (Alchiki) with Bengali transliteration. Hon’ble Chief Minister also informed that decision to set up a new Chair in the name of Mahatma Gandhi at Calcutta University, has been taken. She also informed that the next year, on the occasion of birthday of Gandhiji, the State Government would organise a public rally, ‘Dandi Abhijan’.
