•  A devastating fire broke out at the Surya Sen Market in Sealdah in Central Kolkata. All the shops in the market were gutted. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the spot to take stock of the situation. She later paid a visit to the injured at the Calcutta Medical College & Hospital. She also went to the morgue at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where the dead bodies were brought for postmortem. She personally took stock of the situation and interacted with relatives and assured them of all assistance. Hon’ble Chief Minister ordered the authorities to arrange for hearse to carry the bodies.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a public meeting at Bakkhali in South 24-Parganas. She laid the foundation stone of 25-Cyclone Rescue Centers which will give shelters to 22,000 locals who become homeless due to the natural calamities in the coastal areas, a Fire Service Station at Kakdweep and Coastal Police Station at Harwood Point. She also inaugurated 2 Cyclone Rescue Centers, bridge over Saptamukhi River and 2 Piped Water Supply Projects. She also distributed some benefits to the people. There it was announced that a Development Authority will be made taking the area of Gangasagar, Bakkhali, Freserganj & Namkhana.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde paid visit to the coastal regions in Sunderban and adjoining areas. They inspected Jambudweep in a hovercraft and convened a meeting to discuss the security measures in the area.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wished success to all the students who will be appearing for the Madhyamik exams this year. The exams will commence from February 25 and will end on March 6 and 10,35,648-students will be appearing for the Madhyamik exams this year.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had a meeting with the officials and staffs of the health department at Swastha Bhawan and took stock of the situation in the health sector in the State. During the interactive session, the Chief Minister mentioned various development programmes undertaken to improve health facilities. She informed that there will be more multi-specialty-hospitals and Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) in the State. She also took various questions from the members and replied to their queries. It was also decided to introduce mechanized cleanliness programme at Medical Colleges initially and subsequently it will be extended to hospitals. She reiterated that under no circumstances safety of the patients and tidiness in the hospitals will be compromised. She said the stocks will have to be monitored at regular intervals.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tributes to the martyrs by placing wreath at Curzon Park in Central Kolkata. Later she attended a special programme organized on the solemn occasion of 'Amar Ekush' at Deshapriya Park in Kolkata. Famous personalities from the field of art, music and culture performed on this occasion. She also inaugurated the Dankuni flyover by pressing the remote control from the dais.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took the initiatives to inspire the people of the State to rise against `bandh` culture. She expressed her gratitude to all for not paying attention to `bandh` call and maintaining normalcy across the State. Referring to the `bandh` on Thursday, she said she was hopeful that people will maintain same spirit the next day also and will maintain normalcy in the State.

•  A meeting was held by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with task force to discuss the steps being taken by the State government to maintain normalcy in the wake of `bandh` called by the central trade unions on Feb 20 and Feb 21. Hon’ble Chief Minister also convened an administrative meeting at Writers` Buildings and took stock of all the preparations and precautions being taken to protect the common man from being harassed during the proposed bandh.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone of the State’s first women`s university and an arsenic-free drinking water plant during a public meeting at Amtala in South 24-Parganas. She also laid the foundation stone of an arsenic-free drinking water plant at Nodakhali (Part-2), the drinking water would be distributed to houses through pipeline after being purified at a plant in Budge Budge. Nearly 33-lakh people residing in these blocks would get the benefit after the completion of these projects which is being at an estimated Rs. 1,333 crore. She distributed Kisan Credit Crads, `Patta` to homeless under the 'Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griho' scheme and 'Gitanjali scheme', bicycles to secondary and Higher secondary minority girl students, fishing net and basket to fishermen, insulated boxes to keep fish fresh and an aid of Rs. 4,000 to fishermen, `Patta` to homeless under Indira Awas Yojna, grants for construction of new school building and hand cart to farmers, computers to Madrasah, power tiller to farmers etc.

•  On the second day of her district visit to East Midnapore District, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee convened a meeting with the officials of East Midnapore District Administration along with some departmental Secretaries. The meeting was held at the Digha Shankarpur Development Authority (DSDA) office. There it was decided that one Police outpost will be set up at Udaipur and pond area with 20 acres & above will be brought under Fishery Projects like Andhra Pradesh.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister who is on a two-day trip to East Midnapore laid foundation stone of 10 projects which includes Rakhal Memorial Sports Complex, Kishan Mandis at Panskura-I & Contai-II, 2 College & School Hostels, one Piped Water Supply Project, Jetty & Pontoon at Kendumari, Radhmoni Handloom Cluster and 2 ITI’s of Garbeta & Debra of Paschim Midnapore. She also inaugurated Ice Plant at Digha, 3 Primary Health Centers, 3 33/11 KV Sub-Station and Fair Price Medicine Shop at Contai SD Hospital. She also distributed some benefits to the poor people.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was inaugurated Mati Utsav at Panagarh in Burdwan . On the venue she, along with the renowned painter Subhaprasanna and Jogen Chowdhury, painted some portraits. In the same occasion the paintings of the Hon'ble Chief Minister and those two painters have been auctioned. The fund raised by the auction was kept for social upliftment of the 'Baul' artists. There, she declared that all folk artists will be brought under a structure and will be brought under pension scheme.

Hon’ble Chief Minister held a meeting with the BDOs, SDOs & ADMs. In that meeting she deliberated about the focus area of the State Government and tried to understand the problems at field level talking with some field level officers. On the same day, she addressed a meeting at Dhanikhali in Hooghly. There she laid foundation stone of Singur Kishan Mandi, 2 Piped Water Supply Projects, Bilkuli Abasik Prasikshan Kendra, Arambagh Khadya Bhaban, Madrasah at Pandua and Dankuni Fire Service Station. There she announced that there will be ICCU at Srerampur Hospital and Trauma Care Center at Arambagh SD Hospital. There she also distributed some benefits to the poor people.
