•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a 600 megawatt thermal power station of CESC at Baneswarchak of Haldia. She said, in order to stop the conflict in the industrial sphere, dialogue and discussion is the only way. She also inaugurated Haldia City Centre on that occasion.

•   Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee chaired a review meeting at Digha today to take stock of the status of developmental works in the Purba Medinipur district. She inaugurate the Gateway of Digha, set up by the Digha-Shankarpur Development Authority. Hon'ble Chief Minister addressed a programme at the Police Holiday Home Ground in Digha and inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several projects, besides distributing benefits. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also informed that a Marine Drive is being set up connecting Mondarmoni with Digha.

She took stock of the developmental works done so far in the districts, checked conditions of those underway. Later, at 1 PM, in a programme at Bongaon Stadium the Chief Minister inaugurated and also laid foundation stones for several projects. She also distributed benefits to the people of the district.

•   The closing ceremony of the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival was held at Najrul Mancha. Hon’ble guests included Australian filmmaker Paul Kox, filmmaker Farah Khan, actor and theatre personality Amol Palekar, veteran actor Madhabi Mukherjee and other distinguished personalities. For the first time in its history, the festival turned competitive this year and so many films were awarded the ‘Golden Royal Bengal Tiger’ award

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated 20 unique mobile vans named Chetana Sathi for enhancement and extension of awareness in legal matters and for providing legal service free of cost to the common people in each districts of West Bengal. The inauguration ceremony was held in front of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Building. Hon’ble speaker of the state assembly Biman Bandopadhyay, Hon’ble Law Minister of the State Chandrima Bhattacharyya, Hon’ble Chief Government Whip Shovandeb Chatterjee and other distinguished members of the State Assembly were present on the occasion.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee chaired a meeting with the task force to control price rise of daily necessities. It was decided in the meeting among other agendas that outlets to sell fishes at affordable price in the markets of Kolkata and adjoining areas would be set up. The move is aimed to curb shortage and to counter price-rise at the wake of a sharp rise in retail prices and much lower wholesale prices. The state Government in the past had already set up fair price shops to sell potatoes, other vegetables and chicken.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone for Vivekananda Centre for Human Excellence and Social Sciences – Viveka Tirtha, to be set up by the Ramakrishna Mission, at New Town, Rajarhat. The State Government has allotted 5 acres of land for this project. Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Dr Manjula Chellur, Swami Suhitananda, the general secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Swami Suparnananda, the secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Mother’s Wax Museum at the Finance Centre building, opposite the eco-park in New Town, which she had inaugurated the day before, from the stage of the inaugural programme of KIFF. She said that the latest tourism attraction of the city will boast of wax statues of Mother Teresa and Sister Nivedita besides the wax figures of other famous personalities.

•   To commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the West Bengal Government decided to name West Bengal University of Technology, the largest University in West Bengal, as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. As a befitting tribute to the legendary educationist and freedom fighter, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the new campus of Aliah University. This new facility at New Town, Rajarhat, will offer high quality education and capacity building opportunity including Incubation Centre for research, digital library, GATE/NET/SLET training centre and others to more than 10,000 students.

•  The much-awaited Mother’s Wax Museum in Rajarhat New Town, modelled on the famous Madame Tussauds, is all set to be thrown open to the people from November 11. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the museum through remote control from the inaugural ceremony function of Kolkata Film Festival in the presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. The museum has been named 'Mother's Wax Museum' and will house wax statues of legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan and Suchitra Sen apart from Shah Rukh Khan and other luminaries. The museum will stay open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 12 noon to 7.30 PM.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present at the National Executive Committee Meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) held in Kolkata. She pointed out in her brief speech that West Bengal registered higher growth than the national average in GSDP, Agriculture, Industry and Services. She invited the industrialists to come and invest in the State and also participate in the upcoming Global Bengal Business Summit to be held in January 2015. Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Industries, Dr Amit Mitra was also present at the meeting.

•   Speaking at a press conference at Nabanna, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the West Bengal Government has decided to do away with attestation by gazetted officers. From 1st December, 2014, attestation and affidavit in most Government work will not be required. Applicants will themselves be competent to self-attest, unless there is a specific legal requirement, she said.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee presented the Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman Sharad Samman for this year at Nazrul Mancha today. The award ceremony was jointly organized by the Department of Information and Culture, West Bengal Government, Kolkata Municipal Corporation and the Kolkata Police.
