•  “Darjeeling is part and parcel of West Bengal” and the “question of division of the State does not arise,” Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said at Writers' Buildings on Wednesday. The government would not dissolve the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), she said. Bimal Gurung, resigned as the Chief Executive of the GTA — the regional autonomous body that started functioning from August 2012, which was accepted by the State Government.
•  The Panchayat polls were conducted in five phases in rural West Bengal between July 11 and July 25. The result of the poll was published today. After the results were published, Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the results show that it is the victory of the people and democracy. People have voted at a difficult time of heat, rains and the ongoing Ramzan. She said at the Writers' Buildings that the verdict should be respected and all should behave in a peaceful manner.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended an Iftar get-together at Park Circus Maidan. The Iftar was hosted by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Hon’ble Minister Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Minister Javed Ahmed Khan, Hon'ble Mayor, Kolkata, Sovan Chatterjee, Commissioner of Police Surojit Kar Purkayastha , Chief Secretary and Home Secretary of West Bengal, the Peer Saheb of Medinipur, the Imams of Nakhoda Masjid and Tipu Sultan Masjid were also present in this get-together.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the sacred `Ratha Yatra Utsav` at Park Circus. In her short speech the Hon’ble Chief Minister said that a huge mass of tourist visit Puri every year. The good news for them is that the State Government acquired an acre of land recently in the adjacent area of Puri. Tourist Lodge along with various facilities is supposed to be constructed shortly.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that it was a 'moral victory' after the Supreme Court asked Tata Motors to make its stand clear on its leasehold rights on the land at Singur as it had moved its car plant out of the state. She expressed her pleasure with the important observation that she expected.
