Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had a round of discussions with Attilio Fontana, Hon’ble President of the Lombardy Regional Government of Italy, today. Talks centred around strengthening relations between the Lombardy region of Italy and West Bengal and explore areas of mutual collaboration in business, education, tourism and other key sectors. The Hon’ble Chief Minister took the opportunity to invite him to the West Bengal Global Business Summit, 2019 and requested him to lead a delegation to West Bengal to have a first-hand feel of the opportunities available here in the state.

During her 12-day visit to European countries, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in a Business Meet jointly organized by ASSOLOMBARDA, Italian Trade Commission, FICCI and Government of West Bengal in Milan, Italy today. Big industry and business houses of Italy along with a strong delegation of business owners from Bengal were present in the Meet. Prospects of doing business in West Bengal was showcased and successes achieved by the West Bengal Government over the last 7 (seven) years were presented before the audience.

During her visits to European countries, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present today in a Business Meet jointly organized by IHK, Frankfurt, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, FICCI and Government of West Bengal in Frankfurt, Germany. Top business and industry leaders from Germany along with a delegation of nearly 50 business and industry leaders from Bengal took part in this Meet. Hon’ble Chief Minister stated that extensive deliberations were made on the prospects of doing business in Bengal.

Acting on invitations from business communities and the governments of the two European countries, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today left for a 12-day visit to Germany and Italy to attract more investments to the state. She was accompanied by the Hon’ble Finance Minister Dr Amit Mitra, and Government officials. She will be visiting Frankfurt and Milan.

During her visit to the United Kingdom, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was today was present in a high-level Round Table talks with UK Companies, jointly organised by UKIBC and FICCI, in London. Extensive discussions were made about prospects of investments and ease of doing business in Bengal.

The United Nations today, on the occasion of UN Public Service Day, awarded the United Nations Public Services first place winner award in the Category on Reaching the Poorest and Most Vulnerable through Inclusive Services and Participation, to Government of West Bengal for "Kanyashree". There were 552 nominations from 62 countries altogether. The prestigious award is in recognition of excellence in public service for sustainable development, innovation and the commitment to leave no one behind in the development agenda of the Government. The award was presented to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the World Public Service Forum by the UN Assistant at a ceremony in Hague in Netherlands. After receiving the award, the Hon’ble Chief Minister dedicated it to the people of her state and the country.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today took part in a Business Interaction organized by Govt of West Bengal in association with VNO-NCW, the largest employers' organisation in the Netherlands, supported by FICCI and KPMG at The Hague in The Netherlands. A high powered official and business delegation is accompanying the Hon’ble Chief Minister. The President of the VNO-NCW expressed interest to bring in a delegation of Dutch companies to Bengal Global Business Summit 2018. The Hon’ble Ambassador of India to Netherlands also addressed the session. Noted Industrialists from Bengal spoke on their experiences of doing business in Bengal.

On the invitation of the United Nations, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left for The Netherlands today. She will address the Public Service Day of United Nations on June 22 at The Hague in The Netherlands. “The Future is Now: Accelerating Public Service Innovation for Agenda 2030” is the theme of the 2017 UN Public Service Forum and the Hon’ble Chief Minister will be speaking on this subject.
