•  Like every year, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today visited Nabonir, a home for the elderly and spent some time with the residents. She paid her humble regards to all of them and wished them best on the occasion of Durga Puja.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that the Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman 2017, instituted by the present Government in 2013 in recognition of outstanding works of creativity, aesthetics, management and branding have been announced . She informed that the award will be conferred on 70 pujo committees of Kolkata and adjoining areas on 12 October, 2017. She also informed that the district-level awards have been announced by respective districts and will be available on the website, biswabanglasharadsamman.com

•  In a major push to infrastructure development in West Bengal, State Government has decided to spend Rs 12,180 crore in addition to the Rs 20,155 crore allocated in this year’s budget for the purpose.This was stated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a media interaction at the state secretariat, Nabanna today. The amount, she said, would be spent for the construction of roads, bridges, flyovers, water and electrification projects, and warehouses for the storage of foodgrains in the next two to three years. A committee has been formed under the Chief Secretary for monitoring them. As many as 12 flyovers will be built along with a complete overhaul of the power distribution system, bridges, flyovers and various other projects, she announced. She further said that the government had sent a proposal to the Railway Ministry for a bullet train linking Andal to Kolkata.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a press conference at Nabanna today urged the people of the state to maintain peace and harmony during Durga Puja and Muharram. She also announced that the immersions will culminate in with a carnival on Red Road on October 3.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today chaired an All-Party meeting regarding the ongoing impasse in the Hills, at Uttar Kanya in Siliguri, Darjeeling. She later informed that the next meeting will be held on October 16. She announced that the Government has decided to call the owners of tea gardens immediately for a meeting to discuss pending wages, bonus for puja etc. for the workers.

•   Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the formation of new boards for north Bengal after a meeting at Uttar Kanya, the secretariat for North Bengal, in Siliguri. One of these newly formed boards is the Rajbangshi Development & Cultural Board. The headquarters of the Rajbangshi Development & Cultural Board will be at Cooch Behar. Along with this, the Kamtapur Language Academy was also formed- the headquarters of which will be in Jalpaiguri. Noted literateur Nrisingha Prasad Bhaduri will be the President of the Academy.

•   The newly renovated Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan prior to hosting of the U-17 World Cup was inaugurated today, by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She inaugurated the stadium through remote control, from Uttar Kanya, the secretariat for North Bengal, in Siliguri.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today informed that nine innovative and people-friendly projects from West Bengal have got the SKOCH Order of Merit out which six have got the top awards. SKOCH Platinum Awards have been won by projects on Ease of Doing Business, Inspection Reforms and "Sishu Aloy" on quality early childhood care and education, she informed. SKOCH Gold Awards have been won by "Yubashree" project on skill development and enhancing employability of youth, "Samajik Suraksha Yojana" project on social security for workers and e-District project on online services to citizens, she informed.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced 15 per cent hike in dearness allowance of state government employees from next January at a meeting with the employees of the State Government, held at Nazrul Mancho. The increased DA for over 1.1 million employees would cost the exchequer about Rs 4,500 crore. She also said that effort will be made to clear all the arrears would be cleared in phases by 2019.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today conferred the Siksha Ratna awards to outstanding teachers of Bengal at the state-level celebration of Teachers’ Day at Nazrul Mancha. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that teachers have a remarkable contribution in shaping students to become good human beings and lead the nation. It is the teachers who have an overwhelming role in influencing minds and turning them to profound repositories of knowledge and wisdom, she said. She extended her best wishes and respectful regards to teachers all over the state, country and the world. In today’s programme, she announced that the medical insurance scheme the ‘Swasthya Sathi’ health scheme will cover teachers from now. She also announced that there was a plan to include from next year Class VIII students in the Sabuj Sathi scheme, where cycles are being distributed among students.

•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated an auditorium adjacent to Nabanna. It has been named Nabanna Sabhaghar. Later, the Hon’ble Chief Minister chaired the state-level review meeting at the same venue. She took stock on the progress of work undertaken by all State Government departments during the review meeting. The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Ministers, secretaries, District Magistrates, senior administration and police officials.
