•  Rupee suffering from record low, petrol and diesel prices being highest ever, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to social media to state that foreign exchange reserves had fallen, current account deficit had risen, the bravado of launching GST resulted in a loss for states and the creation of black markets for goods. It is a very dangerous situation for the people of India, she stated.
•  Today, the RBI published its annual report for 2017-18 showing that 99.3% of the money has come back to the banking system. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to social media to raise questions regarding the draconian demonetisation which was announced on 8th November, 2016. She said that she immediately had sensed by intuition that this is a big anti-people measure and it will severely affect the common people of the country, especially, farmers, unorganized sector, small entrepreneurs and hard-working middle class. She said that the RBI in its annual report for 2017-18 has vindicated her apprehension. She raised questions regarding where has the black money gone and was this scheme hatched to allow some black-money holders to quietly convert their black money into white?
•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in ‘Jai Hey’, the annual cultural event of Kolkata Police at Netaji Indoor Stadium today. This is a day that is dedicated to all the family members of the force, whose unstinting encouragement, support and sacrifice go a long way towards the 24x7 contribution the police force makes with a smile for safety and security of the citizens. Schools and the Tornado team of Kolkata Police who displayed outstanding performance in the Independence Day celebration programme at Red Road were felicitated on the occasion.
•  The State MSME Conclave was inaugurated today at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. More than 3500 entrepreneurs from micro, small, medium enterprises and textiles sector from all over the state, country and even abroad are participants in this Conclave, a first of its kind event in the state. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that extensive deliberations will take place in the Conclave with experts in the field on institutional credit, newer technologies, marketing, exports and rural entrepreneurship. She said that Bengal is a pioneer in the country in MSME Sector and we want our entrepreneurs to grow more and reach out to the world arena.
•  Independence Day is being celebrated everywhere with due dignity and honour. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unfurled the National Flag today at the state-level programme at Red Road, Kolkata. Ceremonial march past by members of the police force, colourful tableaus highlighting flagship programmes of the state government, beautiful cultural programme by school children from all over the state, performance by folk artists of Lok Prasar Parakalpa depicting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal and special show by police on motorcycles enthralled the huge audience from all walks of life. Medals were awarded to members of the police force for distinguished service. She paid homage at the Netaji Statue and at the Police Memorial today.
•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present was present in the ceremony of the fifth Kanyashree Divas amidst thousands and thousands of Kanyashree girls from all over the state at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Today, she announced setting up of new Kanyashree University for Kanyashree students, skill development training for enhancing employability of Kanyashree girls and removal of income ceiling criteria so that more and more girls can get benefit under the scheme.
•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present at the Foundation Stone laying ceremony of Bengal Silicon Valley Hub, a major milestone in IT infrastructure of the state, today at New Town, Kolkata. Major IT players were present today on the occasion. Not just in the state and the country, the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub is going to be a top IT destination in the whole world, she said. From today’s programme, the new IT Policy of the state was unveiled. The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that Reliance Group is setting up a new state-of-art Data Centre in Kolkata. New projects of Amazon, Fujisoft, new IT Parks at Purulia, Malda and Siliguri were also launched today. The online portal of “Utkarsh Bangla”, a one-stop online resource on skill development of youth was also launched today.
•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present in the state-level celebration of International Day of the World’s Indigenous People and anniversary of Quit India Movement at Jhargram today. To take forward further the development activities by the State Government in Jhargram and create more opportunities in higher education for local youth, foundation stone of a new university at Jhargram was laid today. A bouquet of new schemes including 24 new government bus services connecting places in and around Jhargram were also flagged off today, which will give a huge boost to connectivity, healthcare, employment and overall development in the area. Outstanding achievers in various fields from among the tribal people were felicitated today by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. She said that she always have a very special place in her heart for people belonging to ST, SC, OBC, minority, general and other castes and communities. She said that the State Government has always worked with focussed attention for their overall development and would continue to do so in future for further betterment of their lives and livelihoods.

•  Former Tamil Nadu CM and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi passed away today after battling illness in Chennai. Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tribute to the great son of India by travelling to Chennai. She paid her deepest condolence to the people of Tamil Nadu and the family of the great leader.
•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was today present at the Youth Summit and Young Entrepreneurs' Award, Swapno Bhor, a programme organised by a private television channel, at Nazrul Mancha. She interacted with the students present at the programme.
•  Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence in Delhi.
